23th May

A fanart of Tracer, D.Va, and Mercy; three of characters from a game entitled 'Overwatch'.

They're still sketches though.

This one is called Tracer.

I don't play the game, but I like the animation trailer. Probably the favorite one was Tracer, so I drew her. I don't really understand it myself, but there's something attractive in her seemingly cheery character. When I drew the clothes, I came to wonder where she put her guns, since I noticed there was no holsters anywhere on her body.

Since there are lots of characters in the game, and the trailers keep coming (I think three of them now [?]), it ended up poking my curiosity to guess there are still more of them incoming, especially D.Va, hopefully.

However, I'm still not sure whether I will play the game or not. Perhaps, I won't.

D.Va

The most exquisite name I ever read, and it sounds like abbreviated. The first glance makes me to think of 'Doctor Valentine' instead, to be honest.

I guess it's a little uncharacterstic of her to stay slightly vigilant like that holding her gun. I wanted this pose, so I'd let this be. This piece was originally to have the mecha behind the girl, but I cancelled it.

Really though, advertisements (or are they stickers?) on the leg? I doubt both allies and enemies would have time to look at them.

Another thing that made me ponder is her being a former professional gamer. Her champion level of instinct and reflex as gamers may work in the case of controlling the mecha, but what if the mecha got broken/malfunction in the middle of battle and she had to disembark? Unless she received harsh training as how normal soldiers do, she won't survive that long, I think. And it'll be a different story if she chooses to stay in the soon-to-explode mecha instead.

Furthermore, she is still young, 19, and already was sent directly into battlefield without going through trainings first which usually requires months or years. Threats in real life is completely different than threats in virtual video games, yet she still sees missions as a mere game, which is why I'm worried about her psychology state in spite of her remarkable ability of controlling the mecha. But, I think it's right on spot regarding her childish personality.

Thinking about those, when I was drawing her design, I realized she didn't have many with her in physical form. No thick armor, no real combat experiences (not with mecha), and just a plain gun.

Though, to cover this obvious weakness, she is equipped with a feature allowing her to instantly summon a new mecha (even if she's in the building, and the landing totally ignores the ceiling).

Well, it's a game, so anything would work, I guess. Moreover, I don't even play the game, so I shouldn't say too much here lol....

Mercy

I guess it was an easy codename to come up because her skills are mostly related to support, healing and whatnot.

Drawing the mechanical wings on her back was a pain on my back, though I enjoyed it.

Yes, I know she looks taller than the precending two characters. I researched about her, and found out her height is 170 cm (1,7 m). While Tracer's is 162 cm, and D.Va's is unknown, whose height therefore I took the independence to adjust, since D.Va comes from South Korea, so I tried to make the height looks average typically (a little shorter than Tracer's). Hence, Mercy is naturally the tallest of all three here.

I did take a look at the height comparison of all characters, but I see D.Va sitting on top of the mecha and Mercy flying. Tracer is the only one standing normally lol. So.... you see, I am kinda forced to assume it lol...

And she looks mature, if anything.
