22th November

A rough sketch. They are characters from RWBY.

From left to right; Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long.

I like Ruby Rose, because of the short hair (shoulder length).

Since I have been drawing OC(s) till now, thus I thought I should draw some fan-arts as well, which I already did. And this sketch is one of them. That was so I would have something to do in leisure by starting drawing characters I like personally. It’s also a nice time to refresh my mind.

Now, who will I draw next….

12th October

I drew this for thanking people who congratulated on my birthday.

Not only this, this can too act as a practice I longed. Though I’m still not sure about how to pick a color properly, thus I think I should take it easy by starting a monochrome like this. It’s so I may find a possible location to put shadows on where lights would fall. Pretty a simple practice, but I will take one small step at a time.

Coloring will be in next drawing, to start improving myself onto a new level which I’ve been eager to do so. I’m somehow excited whenever I think about it. It’s never too late, you know.

Personally I think anything is never too late in life, because life has no less room for whatever we do. Only priorities do limit the room, so therefore one must take a really desired path. Else, regretting may come at the end of line. Yet, choosing may be difficult at a time in which one of them would have to require an unexpected sacrifice. Furthermore, there is no way to know exactly what would happen after the decision is made.

I don’t know what would be correct to say, since I’m not a philosopher or adviser, but I guess it’s all focused on your desire. What’s the wish? What’s the purpose? What’s the goal? Choose based on that. Then there’s only one thing we must face after deciding and that is a responsibility.

The bigger the goal is, the longer the time goes, the bigger the responsibility gets.

Really, life is already complicated enough, so why bother complicate it further? If only we all can just simplify everything, then all would be like a dream coming true. Complicating a life may barely have any points, however it doesn’t mean we can’t give depth and width into it.

Well, I’m just saying… So please don’t mind them.

The only thing I would say all time is

Never give up!

20th August

Please let me return to anime style drawing, since I don’t feel a realistic drawing is my way. Though it was fun to do so and will be a way to enhance coordination between eyes and hand every now and then.

This looks like a compilation of references or some sort, but this was a simple practice to deepen my understanding of anatomy and improve my way of imagining things. Another note would be to draw without depending on any references. I humbly still need more practice, and the only obstacle I need to tackle is how to pick a proper color and how to blend in a proper way.

I…. must…. not… give… up!!

Additionally, I think I’m beginning to get used to using Wacom, and there's no odd sensation anymore every time I try to use the pen. Moreover, a total positive point of this device is that we have unlimited paper to draw. :D

10th July

"A painter paints pictures on canvas, but musicians paint their pictures on silence."
—Leopold Stokowski (British conductor of Polish and Irish, 18 April 1882 - 13 September 1977)
A little cute girl, whose name is unknown, playing violin in performance.
This was drawn basing on a photo by observation, so all credits go respectively to the original source of photograph. Another note is I didn’t trace the photo as well, starting from a complete scratch.
The focus is still on realism, in which I barely have any interest to be honest, for the sole purpose is to deepen the understanding on the value and enhance the coordination between eyes and hand. I forced myself to go further by drawing an upper body along with hands grabbing something complicated, thus I chose violin musician for the practice. Whenever I think about music, I somehow always imagine a girl playing violin in the centre of theatre, being watched by none but atmosphere itself. A beautiful and colourful dark background surrounded the girl, together with glowing white floor beneath her feet, creating a harmonious contrast. The invisible music made it much mysterious and rich.
One day, one day I will be able to draw and colourize what’s been in my mind about music. Despite my disability of hearing, or impaired hearing, I still sometimes find music is something to hear. I don’t really understand the sound itself, but to each melody it plays, it seemingly gives a different sensation.
So, it is also another world.

26th May

There was this poster I saw in a watch store within mall, and I was had by its composition of images. And I spent around thirty to forty five minutes only to observe that poster the moment I took a glance of it. It was just somehow so too good to abandon that I eventually snapped a photo of it, and another reason was probably the girl smiling faintly, like how this drawing is. The smile was really kind of something, giving this sensation of calmness. Unlike how girls tend to smile exaggeratedly, showing teeth and all, this smile is more than enough although it doesn't seem so happy. At least, the point is she doesn't force herself to smile openly. Smiling calmly is enough, and I like it.

As much as I love the cute smile, I used the taken photo as a reference to draw. It went smoothly than expected, or perhaps a little rougher than before. Maybe because I have oft drawn many times? Though, it's hard to draw exactly like the photo. I tried photorealism, which isn't really my interest from the beginning, but I think I need to do this because I should stray away from comfort zone once in a while. Despite mistakes such as miscalculation of proportion and value, I'm still happy with this result. I know I repeat this over and over, but please let me say it again,

I..... still.... must.... practice.....MORE!!!..... on anime style, of course.

Then when I know the title goes by 'Solvil Et Titus Time is Love', I went searching the source on google and found this.

http://www.drum.com.hk/showcase/tv-commercials/titus-year

It seems it's a poster accommodating an advertisement to introduce its product. Much less of that I would wish to know however. Not even the name of this girl is told, so yah. But I'd still love to use this as my Profile Picture. :3

Nevertheless, that was a nice commercial, in my personal opinion. Even if it's only a commercial whose time is no more than one minute thirty seconds, it was directed nicely and the message was conveyed in a smooth way. It's pretty simple, but the directing gives what is worth it.

By the way, in case someone wonders, I didn't trace the photo. I drew her from observation and completely started from scratch.

27th March

Showing works in progression isn't really much of my way, but it won't be hurtful to just do a little so, I think.
This was done with Wacom tablet, for an assignment. It seems like I still need more practice.

26th February

I tried to draw a character whose clothes is fantasy themed, but it doesn't seem to be one. Not only does I need to hone my drawing skill, I also need to hone my designing skill. This, thus, may take more times than usual as I tend to draw what is just on my mind. I did search references upon fashion, but they weren't enough as what the result told me. I should seek references more from this point onwards.

And I meant to draw an agile character such as an assassin or alike, which is why the clothes is drawn to minimum. Though, I felt like it wasn't a proper one. Probably I should give some cover ups.... Yet some of them ought to be light-wighted since agility is the sole focus of said job. I will see to this, soon or later.

I thought of Rikku, a character from Final Fantasy, when I was drawing this.

When I was strolling around a shopping mall, I spotted a kind of clothes like this in front of a store, being worn by a woman mannequin. I'm unsure what kind of clothes this is, but I think its name is Blouse or something. It was nice to gawk at, so I drew this based on the experience.

It gives a vibration of feminism. Good fashion was what I only said as a compliment to this clothes.

A girl playing Golf.

This is like a general view of a female golfer. I simply drew this on whim, so this doesn't give much of expectations.

This is pretty much an incomplete sketch. I was thinking of drawing a dancer girl wearing fantasy themed clothes, but this also barely shows one. Fantasy is supposed to have plenty of fancy fashion, isn't it? Then, I should learn it carefully.

What's around her shoulder is a cape. It's used to cover up the upper body when she isn't dancing.

The pose is kinda improper for a dancer, but I will let this be as a part of my experience.
